E&M Services Technician

​

Reporting to:  E&M Services Supervisor

​

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

Provide effective maintenance services covering the depot equipment for CHSR;

 

Assist the E&M Services Supervisor in carrying out all level of preventive and corrective maintenance activities and minor modifications of Escalators & Elevators

 

Test functional performance of electromechanical assemblies using various test instruments, replace, install electrical and electronic parts and hardware in housings or assemblies, align, fit, and assemble component parts, using electronics tools, hand tools, power tools, fixtures, templates, and microscopes;

 

Operate metal working machines, repair, rework, and calibrate hydraulic and pneumatic assemblies and systems, verify dimensions and clearances of parts to ensure conformance to specifications and to meet operational specifications and tolerances;

 

Ensure the maintenance tools & equipment are in good condition;

 

Perform time sensitive fault diagnostics and component replacement (repair in site or inside depot) on rail maintenance equipment;

 

Follow the appropriate maintenance procedures and instructions, operating procedures and instructions to ensure compliance with the required requirements;

 

Produce and maintain accurate maintenance records of tools and plant machinery performance, work accomplished and other information using a computerized maintenance management system;

 

Perform and carry out duties as instructed/ directed by the E&M Services Supervisor

 

Perform shift and emergency duties when required;

 

Follow all relevant operations and maintenance plans, procedures, and instructions to carry out the depot equipment engineering and maintenance activities in a method that will not cause harm to our customers, your colleagues or yourself

 

Follow safe working procedures for oneself, ensure appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) are used correctly, fit for purpose, and look out for the safety of others;

 

Consider and evaluate safety issues in relation to all engineering and maintenance activities, including software configuration, equipment modifications and new works;

 

Promote safety awareness among the depot equipment engineering and maintenance team and any subcontractors;

 

Attend all safety related training courses or refresher training cours

Job Qualification:

​

Working knowledge in operating, maintaining and repairing plant machinery and tools such as machine tools, wheel lathe/ presses/ bores, heavy lifting devices (workshop cranes and jacks), rail maintenance equipment, etc.


Thorough understanding of the use, calibration and care of various electronic test equipment and ability to interpret instructions in a variety of written, verbal, pictorial forms in order to carry out the maintenance activities as required.

Skills:

​

Vocational trade certificate or diploma in electrical or mechanical engineering discipline or equivalent;

 

Must have good eyesight and normal color vision;

 

Strong mechanical mind, and ability to grasp the complexity of inner workings of rolling stock;

 

Ability to use and calibrate various electrical, electronic and mechanical test equipment and PC for the maintenance of depot equipment;

 

Ability to write simple technical reports, routine business correspondence, prepare method statements and drawings as required;

 

Possess good communication skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and work productively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment;

 

Strong organizational skills, detail oriented, and the ability to handle multiple priorities;

 

Hold a valid driving license with good driving skill and experience.

Experience:

​

1-year work experience as a qualified electrical, mechanical, or electro-mechanical technician in maintaining and repairing depot equipment;

 

 Working knowledge in operating, maintaining and repairing plant machinery and tools such as machine tools, wheel lathe/ presses/ bores, heavy lifting devices (workshop cranes and jacks), rail maintenance equipment, etc.

Education:

​

Higher diploma in mechanical engineering discipline or equivalent.
 

Degree holder in electrical or electronics engineering discipline or equivalent
 

Professionally qualified with membership of a recognized engineering institution
